Community Relations Grow in Ecuador

March 9, 2021

Sucumbios, Ecuador – March 9, 2021

Through its commitment to being a good neighbor and wanting to help strengthen its neighbors’ food supplies, GeoPark is supporting a local government project in Shushufindi, Ecuador to create a nursery that will grow plants for up to 350 families.

With help from the Shusufindi Decentralized Autonomous Municipal Government (GAD), GeoPark provided materials such as cement, a water pump, seeds and chemical products. The plants will
be given to neighbors in the Espejo block and families in the locality of Shushufindi Central.

“We are pleased to be part of this important project led by the municipal government of Shushufindi, since we share the goal of creating well-being for the neighboring communities of our operations in the Espejo block,” GeoPark Neighbor Relations Leader Maria Belen Ortiz said during the official delivery of the nursery supplies. “At GeoPark we value institutional coordination, and we are committed to productive and social projects that contribute to the sustainable regional development.”

Its support for the project further consolidates GeoPark as a regional development partner for its neighboring communities. GeoPark will continue to work in projects that contribute to closing gaps in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
