In 2024 we joined forces to overcome challenges and deliver high-impact initiatives through our mutual commitment and permanent dialogue. We consolidated our relationship of Good Neighborliness, promoting sustainable development in Meta through projects that help improve living conditions, nurture economic autonomy and protect the environment in our neighboring communities.
Alongside highlighting the principal milestones of our shared work, this newsletter is an opportunity to extend our gratitude to our neighbors for their support and contribution to our common purpose of creating prosperity in the territory. Thank you for what we learned in 2024, and for every shared goal reached. A summary of our work follows below:
Promoting the well-being of our neighboring communities
- We provided more than 2,500 study kits to children who neighbor our operations in Meta
- We provided more than 1,230 free of charge specialized medical consultations and surgical procedures in partnership with the Colombian Civil Air Patrol
- We supported the creation of the Cabuyaro Volunteer Fire Department by training 15 people from the municipality
- We donated equipment to the Barranca de Upia and Cabuyaro offices of the Justice Department and to the Community Action Boards in both municipalities to support institutional strengthening
- We contributed to the preparation of planning documents for the Achagua and Piapoco ethnic peoples, a 12-year project to guide their development while preserving their culture and territories and promoting sustainable educational and economic models
- We are working on a food security project with the Piapoco ethnic group in the La Victoria Reservation, improving their crops with sustainable techniques that guarantee self-supply and create additional income from selling surpluses
Promoting knowledge and ownership in the responsible management of natural resources and their conservation:
- In partnership with IDEAM, we are continuing the construction of the Regional Hydrometeorological Monitoring Center in Villavicencio that will centralize climate information in the region
- Our commitment to biodiversity was recognized by the National Water and Biodiversity Center of ANDI and SiB Colombia after we contributed more than 88,000 records of animal and plant species to the biodiversity information system
- Through the Tejiendo Saberes program we promoted environmental awareness and governance in our areas of influence, benefiting 140 people through activities such as fairs, community meetings and training in key areas such as biodiversity, circular economy and environmental protection
- We were acknowledged by the Colombian Petroleum Association (ACP) for our contributions to climate change and decarbonization management and the circular economy
- We became the first company in the oil and gas sector in Colombia to verify its water footprint for all its operations in the country
We are committed to continuing to help improve the living conditions of the people of Meta, and thanks to our operations in Puerto Lopez, Puerto Gaitan, Barranca de Upia and Cabuyaro we will continue to support high-impact social investment and environmental management projects.
