Dialogue and leadership of regional and local authorities help resolve blockades in Tauramena

August 16, 2024

Our operations in the Llanos 34 Block have returned to normal after blockades affecting access routes were lifted following dialogue between Casanare and Tauramena authorities and a group of demonstrators from the village of Pinalito Bajo.

We are grateful to the Government of Casanare, the Mayor’s Office and Legal Department of Tauaramena, the National Hydrocarbons Agency, the Colombian Association of Oil and Gas and the National Police for their participation and mediation. Their involvement was critical in creating an opportunity for constructive dialogue.

We are committed to continuing an agenda of constant dialogue with the community, without blockades. Such dialogue, with the participation of communities, contractors and relevant authorities, is how to address concerns and establish agreements that are favorable to all parties.

Around 20 contractors will restart work on their contracts from today after the interruption, and will reinstate the employment contracts of over 450 local workers who were affected by the blockades.

To avoid situations such as this, we reiterate to our neighboring communities the importance of dialogue as the only effective mechanism to resolve differences, facilitate mutual understanding and promote agreements that benefit everyone involved.
