Puerto Asis, Putumayo. August 17, 2021 – GeoPark has been working together with local authorities in Colombia’s Putumayo department to protect the most vulnerable of its neighboring communities in a spell of harsh winter weather that has caused a social emergency.
Since July 25 we have delivered more than 836 aid parcels containing non-perishable food and sleeping mats to an equal number of families living in rural areas of Puerto Asis that are in the areas of influence of our operations in the Platanillo and PUT-8 blocks.
“Our commitment is to help ensure the well-being of our neighboring communities that have been affected by the weather hitting the department,” Putumayo Neighbor Relations Leader Mayrene Forero said. “We will continue working hand in hand with the local authorities to provide the assistance that local families need in this difficult situation.”
As a good neighbor, GeoPark will continue to support and lead this type of initiative that helps guarantee the well-being of Putumayo residents while this emergency lasts.
