To reinforce road safety and promote the use of clean technologies by transport companies specialized in the hydrocarbon industry in Arauca, Casanare and Magdalena departments, we held the II Transporters’ Forum in Yopal on August 14-15 together with Parex. The event brought together more than 150 leaders and professionals in the transport of dry cargo, crude oil, and gas.
The event included training sessions on the state of play and best practices in the industry given by experts from the Colombian Federation of Road Cargo Transporters (COLFECAR), the Colombian Safety Council (CCS), and emergency response specialist Ambipar Response.
“At the Federation we value the work of companies such as Parex and GeoPark that promote these meetings in which transporters have the opportunity to catch up on current regulations and legislation,” COLFECAR legal director Claudia Marcela Linares said. “It’s vitally important that they know this to ensure continuous improvement in cargo transport, which faces several challenges in terms of infrastructure, security and regulation.”
Participants learned first-hand about success stories of other companies that have managed to improve their efficiency and reduce their environmental impact by implementing clean technologies and sustainable solutions. “These opportunities are essential to learn and grow as a company,” said Jose Vicente Chaparro, a representative of transport company Transportadora Nacional. “They introduce us to new technologies, especially when it comes to mitigating our environmental impact.”
Attendees expressed their commitment to social and economic development, and to complying with the safety and environmental responsibility standards that their work demands. We intend to continue promoting this type of initiative to benefit progress, sustainability and innovation in Colombia’s transport sector.
