Progress and verification upate on Tigana Sur incident

Tauramena, Casanare
February 8, 2025

At GeoPark, people’s safety, environmental protection and responsible operations are priorities. After an incident at the Tigana Sur platform on the morning of February 7, we have meticulously inspected, controlled and cleaned the area.

Yesterday afternoon Mining and Energy representatives from Tauramena Mayor’s Office visited the block together with Risk Management, Civil Defense and Human Rights agencies to verify the situation. During a tour of the platform and a review of the technical support implemented, it was found that:

  • The event is fully controlled
  • There was no impact on people, neighboring communities, homes or bodies of water
  • The impacts of the event are within the easement area of the Llanos 34 Block
  • The GeoPark team and its contractors are carrying out cleaning and pruning work on the affected vegetation
  • Containment equipment and structures functioned properly during the incident, preventing any further dispersion of fluids
  • The response was adequate, showing the implementation of an effective emergency plan based on drills and continuous training

We are grateful to the authorities for their coordination and recommendations. We continue to investigate the incident to determine its causes and improve our prevention measures.

As part of our commitment to transparency and good neighborliness, we will continue to report on progress and maintain an open dialogue with the community and supervisory bodies to address any concerns.
