Public statement

We are a socially and environmentally responsible company that works within a framework of transparency, ethics and respect for Human Rights to run our operation. In response to accusations of threats and persecution in Tauramena, we share a press release in support of our due diligence:

Tauramena, Casanare. September 4, 2024 – GeoPark firmly rejects any kind of accusation and insinuation made by Mr. Alex Gil, in which he claims that the Company actions have affected his personal integrity.

The Company values, respects and shares the work carried out by Mr. Gil in protecting and preserving natural resources. However, it strongly rejects any accusation or insinuation associating the Company with threats against environment defenders and social leaders. GeoPark respects the Human Rights of all people and communities that neighbor its operations, and these accusations run against the values of respect, dialogue and trust that govern its actions.

The Company has brought the matter to the attention of institutions for them to take the actions they consider appropriate and has also tried to establish dialogue channels with Mr. Gil to address his concerns in the presence of local authorities and organizations that guarantee human rights. These efforts have however been unsuccessful.

GeoPark underscores its openness to dialogue and transparent relations with neighboring communities and highlights its “Cuéntame” program that engages with stakeholders regards any concerns and/or requests they may have. Cuéntame is available by writing to llanos34atentos@geo-park.com, and at service points in Villanueva (Calle 17 #10-48, Barrio El Morichal) and Tauramena (Calle 9 #11-74, Barrio Mastranto).
