April 16, 2021

Putumayo, April 16, 2021 – In line with its principles of good neighborliness and to promote the education and future of children from its neighboring communities, through its subsidiary La nueva Amerisur has donated study kits to 1,655 schoolchildren at rural and urban public schools in Puerto Asis and Puerto Guzman.

Together with local authorities and representatives of the schools and beneficiary communities, and in compliance with all biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19, in early April the Company gave the kits to students from more than 17 villages and 4 indigenous reservations in Putumayo department.

The kits include a bag, pens, colors, exercise books, a notepad and pencils. As Covid-19 is still a danger, GeoPark took the opportunity to also provide personal protection equipment such as alcohol, antibacterial gel and face masks, and to promote self-care messages.

“Through this donation we help ensure that despite the pandemic our youngest neighbors have the basic materials they need for their daily studies,” said GeoPark Neighbor Relations Manager Luisa Vargas. “Education is one of the fundamental pillars to guarantee sustainable development, which is why at GeoPark we will continue to emphatically support all initiatives that promote quality education.”

To meet its goal of being a regional development partner the Company will continue to lead these types of projects, contributing to the fulfillment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
