Bogota, Colombia. August 27, 2021 – To continue contributing to the well-being of its neighboring communities, for the fourth consecutive year GeoPark has supported the visit of the Colombian Civil Air Patrol Medical Brigade to Tauramena and Villanueva in Casanare department. In the last week of July and the third week of August, 67 health professionals attended almost 1,400 people in pediatrics, prenatal control, optometry, dermatology, dentistry and other specialties at the two municipalities’ health centers.
This successful program resulted in more than 1,500 medical appointments, 297 pairs of glasses issued, and 79 dental prostheses fitted. “Ensuring the well-being of our communities is a sign of our commitment to continue to be the communities’ neighbor and partner of choice,” GeoPark Neighbor Relations Leader Jenny Barbosa said. “We thank the Tauramena and Villanueva Mayor’s Offices and the local hospitals of both municipalities for helping us coordinate these health care days, and the Colombian Civil Air Patrol for continuing to be our partners in protecting the health and well-being of our neighbors.”
Colombian Civil Air Patrol general director Pamela Estrada added, “For the Colombian Civil Air Patrol it is a pleasure to return to Tauramena and Villanueva with GeoPark and with the support of the mayors and local hospitals. This support was essential to ensure the success of the sessions in which more than 1,400 people in vulnerable social situations were able to access health services free of charge.”
GeoPark is committed to community development and will continue to implement this kind of initiative that promotes the quality of life in its neighboring communities.
