Everyone wants the same at the end of the day: to return home safe, sound, and calm. More than just a protocol, policy, or business goal, safety is a human commitment that connects us as people. The greatest act of respect, responsibility and trust is ensuring each other’s safety.
A firm belief at GeoPark is that safety is built collectively and is not imposed. It is not the exclusive task of one area or one position, but of all of us who share a work environment. Every action counts and every decision has an impact. That’s why a work culture of self-care creates more human spaces, stronger relationships, and more sustainable operations.
We put our belief into practice through Alianza Pro, an initiative that started in March 2024 and is a space to strengthen what we most value: life. Alianza Pro brings together our local and international contractors to reinforce a shared vision of operating with excellence, efficiency and safety.
We recently celebrated the second version, which surpassed our expectations and featured the active participation of more than 110 representatives of partner companies. In addition to recognizing the excellent performance of 12 contractors for their outstanding health and safety management, we had the opportunity to talk with each other, share experiences and collaboratively seek new ways to improve.
During the day, we reiterated the fundamental principle that all incidents can be prevented by acting proactively: by communicating, reporting observations, using appropriate tools, and continually discussing potential risks.
We discussed significant advances such as using key tools to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors before they result in accidents and the importance of performing activities to the highest standards. Additionally, we summarized the collective improvements made to our processes based on insights gained during the first version of the event.
My biggest lesson from this experience is clear: sitting down together, being open to listening, and transparently acknowledging achievements and challenges help build a stronger, more agile, and more humane value chain.
Alianza Pro is a living platform in continuous evolution that reflects the spirit of collaboration that drives GeoPark. It helps us move closer to our North Star of delivering more energy and more value, in a safe, sustainable and shared way.
