At GeoPark we remain committed to the development of Casanare and have allocated over 62 billion pesos in 2025 to projects that have been agreed with surrounding communities and local authorities.
We started the design and implementation of the projects in 2024 and are developing them with the respective Mayor’s Offices of Tauramena and Villanueva. At a recent meeting between our management team and Casanare Governor Cesar Ortiz Zorro and his team, we made a progress report to share updates and coordinate efforts with the Government to increase the impact of our social and environmental investment in the region.
We firmly believe that progress must be shared. That is why, beyond our operation, we work hand in hand with communities and local authorities to promote projects that truly transform lives.
Our investment in Casanare in 2025 focuses on four areas:
- Basic sanitation and environment: We are building a domestic wastewater treatment plant and a sewerage system in Caribayona, Villanueva, which will benefit more than 1,300 people and safeguard water and public health.
- Road infrastructure and connectivity: We will invest more than 14 billion pesos to improve the La Vara-Soceagro road, and in partnership with Parex and the Government of Casanare we will strengthen the Caribayona and Pinalito bridges to improve connectivity. Also, we will soon donate construction machinery to Tauramena municipality.
- Education and welfare: Through the Works for Taxes mechanism, we will provide furniture to 39 schools in Hato Corozal and La Salina, benefiting some 4,000 students. This year we are working in partnership with the Escuela Nueva Foundation to improve education provision in seven rural CRIEET schools in Tauramena, benefiting over 500 children. Additionally, our university scholarship program in partnership with UNAD provides higher education opportunities to more than 20 young people.
- Energy access: We will supply more than 1,000 solar PV solutions to families in remote areas of Monterrey and Paz de Ariporo, giving access to clean and reliable energy. We have already taken this technology to more than 30 families in the village of La Lucha, in Tauramena, helping improve their quality of life.
Our commitment to Casanare is long-term. We will continue to promote projects that generate opportunities and improve our neighbors’ quality of life, as when communities move forward, we all move forward.
We are strengthening our position as a strategic partner in regional development, with our clear vision of creating and sharing prosperity in every area where we operate.
