Underscoring our commitment to education by issuing 3,000 study kits in Putumayo

As part of our commitment to improving living conditions in Putumayo and to mark the International Day of Education, we announced the donation of almost 3,000 study kits to children from our neighboring communities in Puerto Asis, providing more schoolchildren with the necessary materials to start the academic year.

This initiative reflects the comprehensive vision that we have nurtured throughout our involvement in the region, based on our conviction that education is the engine of sustainable development. This year, the study kits focus on local biodiversity, promoting knowledge and protection of animal life and fostering a sense of belonging. The kits include ecological notebooks featuring pictures taken by local photographers of animals in the area, a backpack, pencil case and a set of rulers made from recyclable materials, a thermos, and other items designed to support sustainable learning.

In addition to providing study kits every year, we have carried out educational projects that have positively impacted thousands of schoolchildren in the region. Highlights of these projects include providing furniture and equipment to 39 Child Development Centers (CDI) in Putumayo and 168 school canteens in Puerto Guzman through the Works for Taxes mechanism, benefiting more than 8,000 scholars.

“At Amerisur, we firmly believe that education is the foundation for building more equitable and prosperous societies. Our commitment to creating and sharing prosperity is reflected in projects we develop to encourage access, permanence and quality of education in the territories where we operate,” our Nature and Neighbors manager Anibal Fernandez de Soto said. “By carrying out transformative initiatives, we aim to help improve living conditions for our neighboring communities.”

In making social investments to support the progress of people in Putumayo, we will continue to lead this type of initiative every year, contributing to the sustainable development in all the territories where we operate.
