Meta, Colombia. August 23, 2022 – We have arrived in the municipalities of Barranca de Upia and Cabuyaro in Meta department. We firmly believe that our future exploratory activities in blocks Llanos 86 and 104 give us the opportunity to start a history of good neighborliness and shared value with our stakeholders in the territory. Our arrival and the welcome of our neighbors excites us and commits us to stay true to our mission of Creating Value and Giving Back.
In line with this goal, in July and in partnership with the Liga contra el Cáncer anti-cancer league we underlined our presence and held two days of medical appointments for our neighboring women, allowing us to promote self-care and opportunely check for signs of cancer. In the two municipalities we treated 220 women, performing 126 breast and 108 cervical screenings.
These activities were part of our ‘Brave Woman’ initiative that celebrates the contribution of women in our operations, consolidating more equitable societies and supporting our commitment to promote the empowerment of rural women and the principles of equality, inclusion and diversity in the territories where we operate.
“We are proud to start our operations in Meta department, promoting initiatives that have a positive impact on people’s lives in our neighboring communities. Ensuring their welfare shows our commitment to be their preferred neighbor and partner. We thank the Mayors of Barranca de Upia and Cabuyaro for helping us coordinate this medical drive and the Liga contra el Cáncer for accompanying us in goal of protecting our neighbors’ health and welfare,” Neighbor Relations professional Margareth Puentes said.
GeoPark is committed to community development, and we will continue to implement this type of initiatives that, in addition to promoting our neighboring communities’ welfare and quality of life, contribute to closing gaps in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
